This week, we were lectured by an artist who has worked on several documentaries himself. He is a writer, a filmmaker, and an actor. He indulged the whole class into a Q/A session asking us about what we like doing and our interests.
The lecture further led to him showing us a documentary called RUSTOM which is based on the dying art of wrestling, which was made by him and the process of it. The documentary further led to winning several national awards.
The film starts with the famous Pakistani instrument (DHOL) being played in the background with the camera focusing on the crowd and the people dancing to the instrument itself. Moreover, it focuses on two people fighting in a ring full of mud. The wrestling is a sport which in Urdu is called "Kabadi" It is played in two teams in which both the teams have to send out an attacker who has to further go ahead touch the opposition teams base and return to his own base. The defending team has to stop the attacker from touching their base and returning. Below is an image of two teams playing the sport for visual reference.
This is a snippet from the Documentary "Rustam" itself.
